Aquidneck Island Oyster Company is a family run business which seeks to provide top quality oysters, promote a healthy marine environment, and maintain Rhode Island’s working waterfront and maritime culture. As a family of three with close ties to the sea, we believe it is our responsibility to care for the ocean’s resources. A bit more about Aquidneck Island Oyster Co.:

We started our farm in May of 2020, but our dream of having an oyster farm started long before then. Dan, founder and farm owner, grew up near the coast of New Jersey and comes from a long line of avid fisherman and shellfish harvesters. When he went to college, he studied environmental science with a concentration in water resources and went on to earn his master’s degree in marine biology through in-depth research of water quality. His interests in marine ecosystem health, combined with his love of fishing, naturally brought him to his desire to start an oyster farm.  Fishing and harvesting became a way of life for his family, and with support from the broader community, Dan started his first oyster farm in May 2020.

Their mission is to further Rhode Island’s maritime future and conserve Rhode Island’s marine ecosystem by providing high quality oysters and investing in the science of shellfish aquaculture. In doing so, they aim to celebrate Rhode Island’s historic working waterfront while enhancing the health of the marine environment.
